"Feather" is a song by Sabrina Carpenter. It was first released on March 17, 2023 as a bonus track on Emails I Can't Send Fwd:, the deluxe edition of her fifth album Emails I Can't Send, and later released as the final single from the album on August 4, 2023 alongside a sped-up version of the song. The single also received a vinyl release in December 2023. The music video was released on October 31, 2023. It was written by Amy Allen, John Ryan and Sabrina Carpenter.
Background[]
On March 4, 2023, fans subscribed to Carpenter's mailing list received an email with the subject "announcements i can't make...". The email contained a link that directed fans to a page where they could listen to an 8-second snippet of an unknown song, later confirmed to be "Opposite".[1]
On March 10, 2023, Carpenter announced that she would be releasing a deluxe edition of Emails I Can't Send, titled Emails I Can't Send Fwd: a week later on March 17, 2023.[2] On her Instagram story, she hinted that there would be four bonus tracks added to the original album.[3]
On March 15, 2023, Carpenter revealed the titles of the four bonus tracks on her social media, along with the pre-save link.[4][5]

On September 12, 2023, Carpenter performed a mash-up of "Feather" with "Nonsense" at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards preshow. She would perform this mash-up again on December 31, 2023 for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, and on Saturday Night Live on May 18, 2024.
Carpenter also performed the song frequently on the Emails I Can't Send Tour in 2023, after it was added to the setlist following the release of Emails I Can't Send Fwd:.
