"Pushing 20" is the lead single from Sabrina Carpenter's fourth album Singular: Act II. The song was first performed live on The Singular Tour on March 2, 2019, and was later released on March 8, 2019. It was written by Sabrina Carpenter, Warren "Oak" Felder and Paul Phamous.
The song is about the expectations that come with becoming an adult and the opinions and views of others telling you how to act and feel, while Carpenter focuses on her own responsibilities and the people who matter the most to her.

- In an interview with PopCrush, Carpenter revealed that the song idea was formed following a conversation with her producer where he was surprised to hear she was "pushing 20".[1]
- The single artwork is a reference to a scene from the 2001 film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, in which Harry Potter is gifted a birthday cake by Rubeus Hagrid with the words "happy birthday" misspelled.[2]
