Saturday Night Live is an American late-night live sketch comedy variety show created by Lorne Michaels. The show revolves around sketches parodying current events, American culture, and politics. Each episode is hosted by a celebrity guest, who delivers the opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast, with featured performances by a musical guest.

Sabrina Carpenter's role[]

Sabrina Carpenter was featured as the musical guest in the season 49 finale hosted by Jake Gyllenhaal on May 18, 2024, performing "Espresso" and a mashup of "Feather" and "Nonsense". She also portrayed Daphne in a Scooby-Doo parody sketch.

Carpenter's song "Espresso" was later parodied in the Saturday Night Live sketch "Bridesmaid Speech", which aired on October 12, 2024 and featured singer Ariana Grande, who was the episode's celebrity guest.[1]

Carpenter returned for the show's 50th anniversary special on February 16, 2025, performing the Simon & Garfunkel song "Homeward Bound" with singer Paul Simon. She also portrayed the bridesmaid Sophie in the sketch "Domingo: Vow Renewal", the second sequel to the "Bridesmaid Speech" sketch. In the sketch, she sings parodies of her song "Espresso", "You Belong with Me" by Taylor Swift, and "Defying Gravity" from the musical Wicked.

In the May 3, 2025 episode hosted by actress Quinta Brunson, Carpenter made a guest appearance during Brunson's monologue song about her short height. Brunson had previously appeared as a celebrity guest in Carpenter's Netflix special A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter.
